JTGA: One of the many highlights from E3 2017 was the boundlessly enthusiastic debut of Josef Fares new title A Way Out. The writer / director previously lead the charge on Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, and has since formed Hazelight Studios in partnership with EA Originals.
The indie focused (and good will generating) initiative funds unique new IP from proven talent; in the case of A Way Out, to the reported tune of $3.7 million in development costs. However, despite the significant wedge of big publisher funding, Hazelight have been given complete creative control to execute their vision of a co-op only, narrative driven adventure.
Fares himself has become an immediately identifiable figure. From his obvious passion for the medium and singular focus on shared play, to his bizarre Oscars rant at the Game Awards, the former motion picture filmmaker is laser focused on getting A Way Out the attention it deserves.
